Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
Pieces descend into a rectangular playfield from a top-down, screen-based puzzle perspective. The player moves and positions each falling piece, attempting to form matching arrangements and clear space before the stack reaches the top.
A run consists of successive pieces and escalating pressure. The central progression is score-based: efficient clears preserve room, while mistakes make later pieces harder to place. The game focuses on single-player arcade-puzzle play; additional modes are not documented here.
Plan your run
Keep the playfield as low and even as possible instead of building tall isolated columns. Plan each placement around the next available clearing opportunity, and avoid sealing off useful spaces with awkward colors or shapes.
When the board becomes crowded, prioritize a safe clear over a higher-value arrangement. Work from the bottom upward and leave flexible gaps that can accept several possible pieces.
Before you begin
Watch the whole stack rather than focusing only on the falling piece.
Use small, reliable clears to preserve space and tempo.
Avoid creating tall one-column towers unless they are immediately useful.
Squarez Deluxe! is a DOS puzzle game developed and published by Adept Software. Its design centers on manipulating falling, colored square pieces inside a playfield and arranging them to create valid matches before the stack becomes unmanageable. The game combines the quick decisions of an arcade title with the planning of a tile-matching puzzle. Play is organized around repeated falling-piece challenges rather than a story campaign, with the main objective being to survive and score through increasingly demanding situations. It is a relatively obscure shareware-era DOS release, and detailed contemporary reception is limited, but it remains notable among early computer puzzle games for its colorful presentation and fast, keyboard-focused play.
