Arilou
An Alliance species whose Skiff is extremely agile and can teleport over short distances.
How it plays
Battles take place from a side-on perspective in an open space arena with a nearby planet generating gravity. The objective is to destroy the opposing ship while managing movement, weapon timing, special abilities, and fuel or energy limits.
The game centers on ship-versus-ship matches and scenario-based confrontations. Players choose from different alien vessels, each with its own handling, primary attack, and special weapon. Progression is based on winning battles and advancing through the featured conflict rather than exploring a persistent world.
Plan your run
Learn the strengths and weaknesses of every ship before committing to an attack. Use the planet’s gravity to alter trajectories, conserve special-weapon energy, and avoid spending fuel on unnecessary maneuvers.
Matchups matter greatly: keep distance against ships with dangerous close-range attacks, but pressure fragile opponents before they can recharge or deploy their special ability.

Star Control: Famous Battles of the Ur-Quan Conflict is a DOS space-combat game developed by Toys for Bob and published by Accolade. It focuses on the tactical melee battles that formed the combat core of Star Control, rather than presenting a full exploration-driven campaign. Players select ships from opposing fleets and fight in compact one-on-one encounters influenced by gravity, maneuvering, and distinctive weapons. The title functions as a focused showcase of famous confrontations from the Ur-Quan conflict. Its reception was tied to the appeal of Star Control’s varied ship roster and competitive combat, although its narrower scope made it less expansive than a full adventure game.
