Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
Combat is presented from a three-dimensional tactical viewpoint. The player deploys a fleet, assigns movement and attack orders, and uses ship systems to control engagements against opposing formations.
Each battle alternates between planning and execution phases. Objectives vary by mission and may include destroying enemy units, protecting vessels, or reaching a designated position. Campaign progression unlocks additional tactical options while surviving ships and fleet decisions influence later encounters.
Plan your run
Build complementary fleets instead of relying on a single ship type. Keep durable vessels between the enemy and fragile support ships, and use range and positioning to reduce incoming fire.
Plan movement before committing to an attack. Concentrate fire on isolated targets, protect ships required by the mission objective, and preserve experienced vessels when the campaign carries their survival forward.
Before you begin
Use the planning phase to check firing arcs and likely enemy movement.
Avoid splitting the fleet unless the mission objective requires it.
Prioritize targets that can disable or heavily damage your formation.
Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy is a science-fiction tactical strategy game developed by Black Lab Games and published by Slitherine Ltd. It places the player in command of a human fleet defending the Solar System against an invading alien force. Battles combine turn-based planning with real-time execution, creating a deliberate rhythm between issuing orders and watching formations carry them out. The campaign focuses on fleet composition, positioning, weapon selection, and the survival of key ships across linked missions. The game received generally favorable attention from strategy players for its distinctive combat system and setting, although its presentation and limited scope were viewed as less polished than those of larger space-strategy productions. No verified DOS release is established for this title.
