Scan the area before committing to an attack so that enemy ships do not catch the starship in a poor position.

Keep the ship aligned with a target for as long as possible, fire deliberately, and avoid wasting attacks when the opponent is outside a useful firing position.

Treat survival and positioning as equally important: rushing directly toward every contact can leave the ship exposed to return fire.
