Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
Players select a car and race against computer opponents or time records on preset and user-created tracks. Courses can include ordinary roads as well as jumps, banked turns, loops, tunnels, bridges, and obstacles.
The track editor allows players to assemble road sections and stunt pieces, set scenery and hazards, and save custom courses. Success depends on choosing a suitable car, learning braking points, maintaining speed through stunt elements, and avoiding collisions. Replays can be reviewed after a run, including dramatic crash views.
Plan your run
Learn each track before chasing a fast time. Slow down before blind turns, jumps, and loop entrances; entering too quickly often causes a spin or a missed landing.
Use a forgiving car while learning custom tracks, then switch to a faster car once the racing line is familiar. In the editor, test every stunt at racing speed and remove transitions that produce unavoidable crashes.
Before you begin
Brake before stunt pieces rather than during them.
Use practice runs to memorize jumps and hidden hazards.
Replay difficult sections to identify the exact point where control is lost.
Editorial context
A memorable DOS racing game whose track editor and replay features give it lasting appeal.
The driving can feel unforgiving, but the inventive stunt layouts make successful runs satisfying.
Stunts is a 1990 DOS driving game developed by Distinctive Software and published by Broderbund. It combines arcade racing with a track-building sandbox, letting players drive licensed-style sports cars through courses filled with ramps, loops, corkscrews, jumps, and hazards. The main challenge is completing races quickly while keeping the car under control through deliberately extreme stunt sections. The game is played from a behind-the-car perspective and is known for its replay system, track editor, and cinematic crash camera. Its accessible driving model and creative construction tools made it a durable favorite among computer racing fans, despite basic graphics and demanding vehicle handling by modern standards.
