How it plays

How does Supaplex play?

The player views each level from a top-down perspective and controls Murphy through a grid-based maze. The main objective is to collect every required infotron and reach a valid exit or completion condition while avoiding explosions, moving electrons, falling objects, and dead ends.

Murphy can walk through open spaces, push or manipulate certain objects, and use special items such as disks to open routes. Levels are completed in sequence, with later stages requiring more precise timing and a stronger understanding of object interactions. There is no combat system or conventional character progression.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Supaplex?

Study the entire layout before moving. Identify which objects can fall, which routes can be permanently blocked, and where electrons may travel after a trigger.

  • Collect infotrons only after confirming that the return route remains open.
  • Use safe areas to test object behavior before committing to a chain reaction.
  • Plan around gravity and explosions; many apparent shortcuts are one-way traps.
  • If a level becomes unsolvable, restart early rather than spending time on a blocked position.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Plan several moves ahead, especially around falling zonks and electrons.

  2. 2

Do not assume that an open-looking route remains available after moving an object.

  3. 3

Restart quickly after an irreversible mistake; experimentation is part of the puzzle design.
