Pac-Man
The player-controlled character, who collects maze items and can temporarily defeat ghosts after taking a power item.
How it plays
The player views the maze from above and guides Pac-Man through corridors. Each round requires collecting the visible food and other targets before the stage is cleared, while ghosts patrol and pursue him.
Keys open corresponding locked gates and create access to new sections. Power items temporarily make Pac-Man larger and able to defeat ghosts. Progress depends on clearing successive mazes; losing all lives ends the game.
Plan your run
Plan a route around the locked gates before committing to a section of the maze. Collect keys when they improve access to multiple areas, and avoid entering narrow corridors with a ghost close behind.
Save the larger power items for moments when ghosts converge or when a risky passage must be crossed. Use the temporary advantage to clear space, but return to collecting ordinary items once the effect ends.
Meet the cast
The player-controlled character, who collects maze items and can temporarily defeat ghosts after taking a power item.
Before you begin
Watch the ghost positions before opening a gate or entering a confined corridor.
Use power items for escape or controlled ghost attacks rather than taking them immediately.
Clear accessible areas systematically so remaining items are easy to locate.
Super Pac-Man is a maze-based arcade action game developed by Namco and released for DOS. It follows Pac-Man through overhead maze layouts where the objective is to collect every item while avoiding pursuing ghosts. Compared with the original Pac-Man, the game adds locked passages, keys, larger power items, and more active movement through the maze. The single-player format emphasizes route planning, timing, and risk management rather than character upgrades or a persistent story. The DOS version brings the arcade design to IBM-compatible computers, although documentation about its exact release date and porting staff is limited. Super Pac-Man was well received for expanding the established formula with faster, more aggressive play and new maze interactions, while retaining the instantly recognizable rules of the arcade series.
