How it plays

How does Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2 play?

Missions are played from an overhead, grid-based perspective. The player deploys a limited group of humanoid robots and battles enemy units by moving, selecting weapons, managing range, and exploiting terrain and support attacks.

The campaign is divided into story missions with intermission screens between battles. Pilots gain levels and learn or improve abilities, while money can be spent on unit upgrades and weapons. Spirit commands provide temporary tactical effects, and some units can transform, combine, or use special attacks when their requirements are met.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2?

Protect fragile units and avoid sending a single robot deep into enemy territory. Check weapon range, terrain effects, ammunition, and morale before ending each turn.

Use support attacks and support defenses to improve exchanges, and spend spirit commands when they secure an objective or prevent a unit from being destroyed. Upgrade weapons on dependable frontline units first, but reserve enough money for units that join later.

A deep portable tactical RPG with a large original cast and satisfying robot customization.
