How it plays
Missions take place from an overhead, grid-based perspective. Move allied units, choose weapons, manage morale and resources, and defeat enemy forces or complete scenario-specific objectives.
The campaign advances through story chapters, with intermission menus used to upgrade machines, equip parts, adjust pilots, and review combat abilities. Units can support one another, form combination attacks, and exploit terrain or weapon ranges. Difficulty comes from positioning, enemy reinforcements, victory conditions, and limited resources rather than from real-time reflexes.
Plan your run
Plan movement before committing to an attack. Keep fragile units within support range and use terrain bonuses when they are available.
Upgrade weapons on dependable units first, then improve armor or mobility according to the machine’s role. Check enemy ranges and scripted reinforcements before ending a turn, and preserve morale and spirit-point resources for decisive encounters.

Super Robot Wars: Original Generation 2 is a turn-based tactical role-playing game developed and published by Banpresto for the Game Boy Advance. It continues the original-character storyline of Original Generation, following several military pilots as conflicts spread across Earth and space. Battles combine squad positioning, weapon selection, pilot abilities, and detailed robot statistics on grid-based maps. The campaign is presented through frequent visual-novel-style dialogue scenes between missions. Its large cast and crossover-like setting are built entirely from Banpresto-created characters and mecha. The Japanese release was well received for its expanded systems, strong story continuity, and substantial tactical depth; Atlus later localized it for North America, making the Original Generation series more accessible outside Japan.
