Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The player explores a stylized version of Hoboken from an overhead perspective, visiting locations, talking with residents, collecting items, and solving situational puzzles. Progress is driven by discovering clues and using the appropriate hero or object at the right place.
Encounters with enemies use turn-based combat. The player selects actions for available heroes, manages their special abilities, and adjusts the party as new members or equipment become available. The campaign is structured around missions and districts rather than a single continuous action level, with story events opening further objectives.
Plan your run
Read conversations carefully and revisit locations after major story developments. Many solutions depend on recognizing a specific clue, item, or hero ability rather than on combat strength alone.
In battles, use each hero’s distinctive power deliberately and avoid spending limited resources on weak opponents. Keep notes about unresolved objectives, since the game can present several leads at once.
Before you begin
Inspect new objects and question recurring characters before leaving an area.
Save before experimenting with unusual items or entering a major battle.
Treat combat as a supporting part of the adventure; puzzle progress is usually the priority.
Superhero League of Hoboken is a comedic role-playing adventure developed and published by Legend Entertainment for DOS in 1994. It follows a loosely organized team of superheroes protecting a post-apocalyptic New Jersey from eccentric villains and civic disasters. The game combines exploration, dialogue, inventory-based problem solving, and turn-based battles, with its humor drawing heavily on comic-book conventions and local satire. Its presentation reflects Legend’s move beyond traditional text adventures, using a graphical interface while retaining a strong emphasis on written descriptions and jokes. Reviews generally recognized the game’s originality, writing, and unusual setting, although its interface and combat could feel awkward. It remains a distinctive cult title rather than a conventional action superhero game.
