How it plays

How does Sword of Aragon play?

The player views the realm from an overhead strategic perspective and manages settlements, resources, troops, and military leaders. The main objective is to expand and defend the kingdom while completing the campaign’s required conflicts and objectives.

Armies move across a regional map, investigate locations, recruit or improve forces, and engage enemy units. Battles use turn-based tactical maps, where movement, terrain, unit abilities, and positioning determine the result. Successful commanders gain experience and resources, allowing stronger forces and further development during the campaign.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Sword of Aragon?

Develop the economy before committing to long offensives, because a large army is difficult to maintain without reliable income. Keep forces near vulnerable settlements and avoid spreading units so thinly that enemies can defeat them separately.

Use terrain and careful positioning during tactical battles. Preserve experienced leaders and veteran troops when possible, since replacing them can weaken later operations.
