Brilhasti ap Tarj
The principal antagonist, a powerful warlord whose magical shield and ambitions drive the game's central conflict.
How it plays
The game uses a first-person view for exploration. A party travels through mapped town, wilderness, tower, and dungeon areas, searching for clues, solving location-based puzzles, finding equipment, and locating the means to confront Brilhasti ap Tarj.
Combat is turn-based and menu-driven. Players select attacks, spells, songs, defensive actions, and other commands for individual party members. Characters gain experience, improve their abilities, change classes under certain conditions, and acquire stronger weapons, armor, and magical items as the adventure progresses.
Plan your run
Map every area carefully, including blocked passages, teleporters, one-way routes, and stairways. Dungeon layouts and puzzle solutions can make backtracking costly, so record landmarks and unusual messages.
Maintain a balanced party with reliable front-line fighters, spellcasters, and at least one bard. Conserve spell points and healing resources, upgrade equipment regularly, and experiment with class development only after securing a dependable core party.

The Bard's Tale II: The Destiny Knight is a first-person fantasy role-playing game developed by Interplay Productions and published by Electronic Arts for DOS in 1986. It follows a party of adventurers summoned to oppose the warlord Brilhasti ap Tarj, whose magical shield threatens the land of Skara Brae and its surrounding regions. Players create and manage a party of adventurers, explore towns, wilderness, towers, and labyrinthine dungeons, and fight turn-based battles through text-driven commands. The game broadened the original's scope with a more extensive world and additional character options. Contemporary and later players generally recognized its depth and ambitious design, although its interface and demanding exploration could be unforgiving.
