Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses event-specific views rather than one fixed perspective. Depending on the discipline, the player controls an athlete’s movement, timing, strength, aim, or balance while attempting to achieve the best measurable result.
Events can be approached individually for practice or combined in competition. Progress is based on performance, including times, distances, scores, or successful routines. Repeated attempts help the player learn each event’s timing and control requirements.
Plan your run
Learn each event separately before attempting a full competition. Short, consistent inputs are generally safer than frantic key presses, especially in events based on rhythm or balance.
Focus on the scoring requirement of the current discipline: speed is not always the only objective, and a clean, controlled attempt can outperform a faster but error-prone one. Use practice to establish a repeatable input pattern.
Before you begin
Practice unfamiliar events individually before entering a complete competition.
Prioritize consistent timing and controlled inputs over rapid button mashing.
Watch the result measure for each event to understand whether speed, distance, accuracy, or form is being rewarded.
The Games: Summer Edition is a 1992 DOS sports game developed by Epyx and published by U.S. Gold. It presents a selection of summer athletic events in the tradition of Epyx’s multi-event sports titles, with an emphasis on timing, rhythm, and accurate control inputs rather than team management. Players can practice individual events or compete across a broader championship-style program. Each discipline uses its own control pattern and performance criteria, creating a varied sequence of short challenges. The game was generally recognized as a competent continuation of Epyx’s sports formula, although its appeal depends heavily on tolerance for repetitive keyboard-based input and period-specific presentation.
