Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game is viewed from event-dependent perspectives: some competitions use side or rear views, while figure skating emphasizes timed routines. The objective is to complete each event efficiently and achieve strong scores or times.
Players select events, control speed and balance, and repeat attempts to improve performance. Progression is based on learning each event's control pattern and comparing results rather than on a narrative campaign or character development.
Plan your run
Learn one event at a time instead of entering a full schedule immediately. Small timing errors can have a large effect on speed, landing quality, or skating scores.
Use practice attempts to identify when acceleration, steering, or balance inputs must stop. In multiplayer sessions, keep the same event order and conditions so results are easier to compare.
Before you begin
Treat each event as a separate control system; techniques do not transfer perfectly between them.
Prioritize clean landings and controlled turns over reckless maximum speed.
Repeat short practice runs before attempting a complete competition.
The Games: Winter Edition is a winter-sports collection developed by Epyx and published by U.S. Gold for DOS in 1991. It presents several Olympic-style events, including skiing, skating, ski jumping, bobsledding, and figure skating. The game uses short event sessions rather than a conventional story campaign, with success determined by speed, control, and performance ratings. Players can compete individually or compare results with others. It received mixed-to-positive period attention for its variety and presentation, although its keyboard controls and event-specific learning curves could be demanding. Its main appeal is the focused recreation of several winter competitions in one package.
