Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a third-person point-and-click perspective. Players move through interconnected scenes, inspect the environment, talk with inhabitants, and gather objects that can be combined or used in later locations.
Progression is puzzle-driven rather than combat-focused. Solving one problem opens new areas or dialogue, while incorrect item use and deliberately comic situations provide much of the challenge. The adventure is structured as a single story campaign.
Plan your run
Examine every visible object and revisit locations after major story developments. Important solutions often depend on an item found earlier or on a conversation that changes after another puzzle is solved.
Keep notes about unusual requests and apparent contradictions. Try reasonable item combinations, but avoid discarding objects unless the game clearly makes them unnecessary; adventure-game progress can depend on retaining an item for a later scene.
Before you begin
Talk to characters more than once when new events occur.
Search each scene carefully before leaving.
Keep a written inventory of unresolved requests and puzzle clues.
The Horror of Rylvania is a comedic point-and-click adventure developed by MPS Labs and published by MicroProse for DOS in 1995. It sends the player into a deliberately theatrical world of vampires, monsters, and gothic absurdity, using parody rather than straightforward horror as its central tone. The game follows a traditional graphic-adventure format: explore locations, examine objects, collect items, and solve inventory-based puzzles through conversations and experimentation. Its humor, eccentric setting, and hand-drawn presentation give it a distinctive character, although it remained a niche release and received far less attention than the era’s major adventure games.
