How it plays

How does The Incredible Machine play?

Puzzles are presented from a fixed side-on view. The objective may be to move a ball, pop a balloon, collect an item, activate a device, or trigger another specified result.

Players select objects from the available inventory and place them in the playfield. Belts, ramps, ropes, fans, guns, animals, and other devices interact according to simple physical rules. A solution is tested by starting the machine, then paused or reset while the player adjusts the layout.

Some scenarios provide a limited selection of parts, while free-building modes allow broader experimentation. Progress comes from solving increasingly demanding setups and learning how objects combine.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play The Incredible Machine?

Study the goal before placing anything, then identify the first object that must move and work backward from the final action.

Use a small number of reliable interactions before adding elaborate mechanisms. Test often, watch where momentum and timing fail, and leave enough clearance for moving objects.

When a puzzle allows spare parts, reserve them for correcting timing or redirecting motion rather than filling empty space.
