Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game presents maze-like areas from an overhead perspective. The main objective is to explore Maramon, locate keys and other useful items, and clear hostile creatures from the buildings and passages that block progress.
Combat takes place in real time. The player moves through rooms, avoids attacks, and uses available weapons or abilities against monsters. Progress depends on learning the layout of each area, surviving encounters, and using collected resources efficiently.
Plan your run
Map each new area mentally or on paper, because returning to previously visited rooms is often necessary. Search thoroughly for keys and useful items before moving on.
Avoid trading damage unnecessarily. Keep space from enemies when possible, learn their movement patterns, and preserve healing or other limited resources for difficult encounters and deeper sections.
The Keys to Maramon is a DOS action role-playing adventure published by Brøderbund Software in 1994. The game places the player in the town of Maramon, where dangerous creatures have appeared throughout a network of buildings and underground areas. Its core play combines exploration, maze navigation, real-time combat, and light character progression rather than conventional menu-driven role-playing. Players search for keys, enter new areas, and battle monsters while trying to restore safety to the town. The game is remembered as an unusual hybrid that sits between an action game and a compact dungeon adventure. Its reception was mixed: some players appreciated the distinctive setting and exploratory structure, while others found the combat and navigation demanding.
