Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The player explores an overhead fantasy world, entering towns, buildings, wilderness areas, and dungeons to gather information and complete quests. Conversations, purchases, recruitment, and clues are important parts of progression.
Combat is turn-based and party-oriented. Characters use weapons, armor, and magic while the player manages positioning and resources. Progress depends on solving local problems, finding key items, improving the party, and advancing the main conflict at a self-directed pace.
Plan your run
Speak with residents in every settlement and record clues before moving on. Many objectives are revealed through conversations rather than obvious map markers.
Keep the party supplied with healing and useful equipment, and explore methodically. Save before major dungeon trips or important decisions, because travel, combat, and quest sequencing can consume significant resources.
Before you begin
Talk to people repeatedly when new events or information may have become available.
Explore towns, wilderness, and dungeons carefully; important progression items are not always placed on the main path.
Maintain a balanced party and carry recovery supplies before entering dangerous areas.
The Magic Candle III: The Minotaur is a fantasy role-playing game developed and published by Mindcraft for DOS in 1992. It continues the open-ended adventure structure of the earlier Magic Candle games, placing the player in a large world threatened by the minotaur Shireen and other supernatural forces. The game combines exploration, town visits, conversation, combat, equipment management, and party-based questing. Its presentation is text-heavy and methodical rather than action-oriented, with a strong emphasis on discovering information and deciding which tasks to pursue. Reception was generally favorable among computer RPG players who valued its breadth and freedom, although its interface and pacing can feel demanding by modern standards.
