Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses an overhead, scrolling perspective. The main objective is to explore hostile areas, solve environmental puzzles, collect useful objects, and advance the story by overcoming magical and physical obstacles.
The player can move through rooms and outdoor locations, fight enemies in real time, cast spells, manipulate objects, and manage an inventory. Progress depends on finding the right items and learning which spells or actions work in particular situations. The world is divided into connected sections with increasingly demanding encounters and puzzles.
Plan your run
Explore methodically and record important clues, passwords, and item locations. Many obstacles are solved by using a specific object or spell rather than by defeating every enemy.
Conserve useful spells and healing resources, check the environment carefully, and keep multiple save files before entering unfamiliar areas or attempting risky puzzles.
Before you begin
Search rooms and containers carefully; progression items may not be obvious.
Save before major puzzles and before experimenting with unfamiliar spells.
The Summoning is a fantasy action role-playing game developed by Event Horizon Software and published by Strategic Simulations, Inc. for DOS in 1992. The player controls a spell-casting adventurer drawn into a dangerous conflict involving powerful magic and supernatural forces. Exploration takes place from an overhead perspective, combining real-time movement and combat with puzzle solving, item use, and extensive spell management. The game is structured around interconnected areas rather than a simple sequence of battles. Its large environments, atmospheric presentation, and demanding puzzles earned it attention among computer role-playing fans, although the interface and difficulty can feel unforgiving today. It is a standalone title rather than a clearly documented entry in a numbered series.
