Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a first-person, point-and-click presentation of rooms and activity areas inside a treehouse. Players select objects and locations to discover interactive scenes, puzzles, and creative activities.
There is no conventional combat system or linear character progression. Progress comes from completing or revisiting activities, experimenting with objects, and learning how each part of the treehouse responds. The structure is open-ended and designed for short play sessions.
Plan your run
Explore every accessible area and try interacting with objects more than once. The game is intended to reward experimentation rather than a single optimal route.
For younger players, revisiting familiar activities can be more useful than rushing through the treehouse, since many interactions are designed as repeatable practice.
Before you begin
Try each interactive object and revisit areas after completing an activity.
Use experimentation as the primary problem-solving method; there is no combat timer to force a route.
The Treehouse is a children's educational and creative game developed and published by Brøderbund Software for DOS in 1991. Its premise places young players in an inviting treehouse filled with activities rather than a conventional adventure campaign. The game emphasizes exploration, simple puzzles, and playful learning through self-contained interactions that can be approached at the player's own pace. Its accessible presentation and low-pressure design were aimed at younger computer users and families. Reception was generally associated with the strengths of Brøderbund's educational catalog: colorful activities, approachable controls, and broad replay value for children, though it is not intended as a demanding action game.
