How it plays

How does Tommy's Spades play?

The player competes in a four-player partnership game of Spades from a DOS interface. Each hand begins with card dealing and bidding, followed by trick play. Players normally contribute one card to each trick, following the led suit when possible; spades can win a trick after they have been legally played.

The objective is to fulfill the partnership's bid over successive hands. Progression is score-based rather than character- or level-based, although the exact scoring rules and available match settings for this release are not verified here.

What is the best way to play Tommy's Spades?

Bid conservatively when a hand has uncertain winning cards, and distinguish dependable tricks from cards that may be defeated by a higher card. Keep track of which suits opponents can no longer follow.

Coordinate the partnership by observing the cards played and protecting the partner's likely winners. Avoid spending high spades too early unless taking the trick is necessary to meet the bid.
