How it plays

How does Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 play?

The game presents courses from an elevated viewpoint. Each stage contains objectives such as reaching target scores, collecting SKATE letters, finding hidden items, and performing specified tricks.

Players steer through ramps, rails, gaps, and other obstacles while combining ollies, grabs, grinds, manuals, and special moves. Career progress unlocks additional stages and improves a skater's abilities through earned stat points. Other modes support free skating and competitive score attempts.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2?

Learn each course before chasing high scores. Complete the easiest collection and location goals first, then use the remaining time to build a multiplier.

Link an ollie into a grind, manual, or grab and finish safely. Upgrade speed, ollie, air, and balance according to the terrain; balance-related upgrades are especially useful when long grinds and manuals are required.

Look for ramps and rails that let you preserve a combo across several obstacles. Restart a run after a fall rather than spending the rest of the attempt with a weak score.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Explore the full stage before committing to a timed objective; many goals depend on memorizing item locations.

  2. 2

Use manuals to connect separate rails and ramps, but end a combo early if balance becomes unstable.

  3. 3

Spend stat points on the abilities most relevant to the current course rather than distributing them evenly.
