Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
Players operate tanks in an overhead arena made from destructible terrain. Moving through the earth creates tunnels, while open areas and existing passages provide opportunities to approach, evade, or attack the opponent.
The main objective is to destroy the other tank before it destroys yours. Matches focus on movement, aiming, firing, and reading the changing tunnel network; there is no documented story progression or character-development system. The core experience is a local competitive battle rather than a conventional level-based campaign.
Plan your run
Preserve room to maneuver instead of digging aimlessly into dead ends. A tunnel can serve as an escape route, but it can also reveal your position or trap your tank.
Watch the terrain and anticipate the opponent’s route. Attacking from an unexpected angle is generally safer than pursuing directly, while careful ammunition use matters when a missed shot leaves you exposed.
Tunneler is a two-player DOS action game created by Geoffrey Silverman. Each player controls a small tank beneath a destructible surface, digging through earth while trying to locate and destroy the opposing vehicle. The game emphasizes direct competition rather than a story campaign or a large roster of characters. Its simple presentation, shared arena, and terrain-altering combat make each match depend on positioning, tunnel layout, and ammunition management. Tunneler is chiefly remembered as a compact early-PC multiplayer experience whose appeal comes from experimentation and head-to-head play.
