Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The player moves around the boundary of a rectangular field and begins a line into the unclaimed interior. The craft must reconnect with a safe edge before an enemy touches the trail. Successfully enclosed regions are filled, and the stage is cleared by capturing the required percentage of the field.
Stages contain roaming enemies and sometimes smaller hazards that make long cuts risky. Captured areas reveal the background image and may remove space around enemies. Progression comes from completing successive stages, with tighter routes and more demanding timing rather than an inventory or character upgrade system.
Plan your run
Start with short cuts when enemies are close, and use the boundary to plan a safe return route. Long diagonal captures are efficient but leave a larger trail exposed.
Watch enemy movement before committing to a line. Capturing a region that contains an enemy can be valuable, but only if the route back to the boundary remains clear.
Before you begin
Use the outer boundary as a safe path while observing enemy patterns.
Prefer smaller captures when a moving enemy is near the planned route.
Volfied is an arcade puzzle game developed by Taito Corporation and adapted for DOS from the 1989 arcade release. It is a successor to Qix, replacing abstract fields with enclosed areas containing hostile creatures and illustrated backgrounds. The player guides a small craft along the edge of a playfield, then cuts through open space to claim territory. Each stage combines quick reactions with careful route planning. Its straightforward rules and increasingly dangerous enemies made it a recognizable late-1980s Taito arcade title, while the DOS version brought the same area-capturing format to home computers with platform-specific presentation.
