How it plays
Missions begin with a small settlement or army, and objectives usually involve building a functioning base, protecting important units, destroying an enemy force, or reaching a designated location. Gold and lumber support construction and unit production, while farms or analogous food structures limit population.
Players select units with the mouse, issue movement and attack orders, build structures, and research improvements. Missions progressively introduce stronger units, spells, and technologies. The DOS version includes Human and Orc campaigns as well as single-player scenarios and multiplayer options, depending on the selected game mode and setup.
Plan your run
Establish an economy before committing to a large attack. Keep workers gathering both gold and lumber, and build enough farms to prevent production from stalling.
Scout early, protect siege units and spellcasters, and use groups of weaker units to screen valuable troops. Save before major engagements when possible; several missions can punish a rushed expansion or an unprotected base.

Warcraft: Orcs & Humans is a fantasy real-time strategy game developed by Blizzard Entertainment and released for DOS in 1994. It presents a two-sided campaign about the war between the human kingdom of Azeroth and the invading orcs. Players gather resources, construct bases, train units, research upgrades, and command armies in missions viewed from an overhead perspective. The game supports separate Human and Orc campaigns, each with its own narrative framing and unit roster. Its interface and mission design established many conventions later associated with Warcraft and helped Blizzard gain wider recognition, although the original controls and pathfinding can feel dated by modern standards.
