How it plays
Wario explores side-scrolling stages from a mostly two-dimensional perspective. Each passage contains enemies, obstacles, treasure chests, collectible jewels, and a switch that starts a timed escape sequence back to the entrance.
Players jump, ram enemies, break blocks, collect money, and use environmental hazards to reach new areas. Four passage groups contain several stages and a boss; collected treasure affects the final outcome, while money can be spent in the shop to improve Wario’s health and buy useful items.
Plan your run
Explore each passage thoroughly before activating its escape switch. Look for breakable blocks, hidden rooms, and treasure containers; money and collectibles contribute to progression and the ending.
Learn how each transformation works instead of treating it as a temporary nuisance. During timed escapes, prioritize the route back to the entrance, use damage strategically when necessary, and practice boss patterns before spending health on risky attacks.

Wario Land 4 is a side-scrolling action platformer developed by Nintendo R&D1 and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. Wario enters a mysterious pyramid after hearing that a princess is imprisoned inside, but each area is also a treasure hunt filled with traps, enemies, and hidden routes. The game combines precise platforming with Wario’s powerful attacks and transformation-based abilities. Its structure is more stage-focused than earlier Wario Land games, with four themed passage groups leading to boss encounters. Critics and players generally praised its colorful presentation, inventive level design, responsive controls, and energetic soundtrack, making it one of the strongest original platformers on the Game Boy Advance.
