The game uses a top-down exploration view for its story sections and a dedicated duel interface for card battles. The main objective is to advance through the campaign by completing conversations, errands, races, and mandatory duels.

Duels follow Yu-Gi-Oh! rules. Players summon monsters, set cards, activate effects, manage Life Points, and use Synchro Summoning with Tuners and non-Tuners. Winning duels earns progress and helps unlock cards, opponents, and story events.

Free Duel, tournament, and other battle options provide additional challenges. Deck construction is central: cards are obtained through progression and rewards, then organized into legal decks for different strategies.

Build a consistent deck rather than filling it with every available card. Keep the main deck close to its minimum size so key cards are drawn more often.
