About MSX2

MSX2 was the second major MSX hardware standard, developed by ASCII and Microsoft and implemented by many manufacturers. It improved graphics and memory over the original MSX while retaining broad software compatibility.

Its cartridge, disk, and cassette ecosystem supported influential games including Metal Gear, Snatcher, and Vampire Killer. MSX2 was especially important in Japan and the Netherlands, and its hardware influenced later home-computer and console software.
