Akumajou Dracula is Konami's 1986 Famicom Disk System action-platformer and the Japanese original of Castlevania. The player controls Simon Belmont, a vampire hunter entering Dracula's castle to stop the count's resurrection. Its six-block structure combines side-scrolling rooms, fixed enemy patterns, platforming hazards, and deliberate whip combat. Simon can strengthen his whip and carry one secondary weapon at a time, making item management important throughout the castle. The game was well received for bringing the series' gothic presentation and demanding arcade-influenced action to a home console. This Rev 2 FDS release is a later revision of the Japanese disk version.
