Rocky
The oldest of the three brothers and a playable young ninja.
How it plays
The game uses a side-scrolling perspective. The objective is to move through successive stages, defeat enemy gangs and ninjas, avoid hazards, collect useful items, and reach each stage's ending encounter.
Rocky, Colt, and Tum-Tum can be selected for different sections or situations. Their attacks and movement emphasize martial-arts combat, while platforming requires careful jumps and timing. Progression comes primarily from clearing stages rather than from a complex upgrade system.
Plan your run
Learn the range and recovery time of each brother's attacks before rushing into groups of enemies. Use short, controlled jumps near pits and moving hazards rather than holding forward continuously.
Explore side paths for items, but prioritize survival when a route contains repeated ambushes. Against bosses, watch the attack pattern first, then strike during the recovery window instead of trading hits.

3 Ninjas Kick Back is an action platformer and beat 'em up based on the 1994 martial-arts comedy film. Developed by Malibu Interactive and published by Sony Imagesoft for Sega CD, it follows Rocky, Colt, and Tum-Tum as they travel through dangerous locations while helping their grandfather recover a stolen ceremonial dagger. The game combines side-scrolling exploration with close-range combat, jumping challenges, collectible items, and occasional vehicle or bonus sequences. Players can switch among the three brothers, each with a distinct fighting style. Reception was mixed: the film license and varied presentation were appealing, but critics commonly found the controls, collision detection, and difficulty uneven.
