Final Fantasy VII
psRole-Playing
How it plays
Players control a full baseball team through batting, pitching, fielding, and base-running situations. The objective is to outscore the opposing team over a regulation game, using pitch selection, timing, defensive positioning, and runner advancement.
Matches use standard baseball innings and offer selectable teams and game formats. Progression is competition-based rather than character-based; success comes from winning games and improving tactical decisions. The 3D presentation allows plays to be viewed from behind the pitcher, behind the batter, and other field-oriented angles.
Plan your run
Vary pitch selection and location instead of repeatedly using the same delivery. Watch the count, protect the strike zone with two strikes, and use ground balls or contact hitting when a runner needs to advance.
On defense, anticipate the ball before selecting a fielder. Throw to the appropriate base rather than automatically targeting first, and avoid risky extra-base attempts unless the defensive recovery is slow.
3D Baseball is a baseball simulation developed and published by Crystal Dynamics for the original PlayStation. It presents professional-style baseball in polygonal 3D, with batting, pitching, fielding, and base running handled from several camera perspectives. The game focuses on exhibition play and season-oriented competition rather than a story campaign. Its presentation was notable for bringing recognizable 3D stadiums and player models to a console baseball game of its era. Reception was generally mixed to positive: some players appreciated its ambitious visuals and broad feature set, while others found the controls and animation less refined than those of stronger sports competitors.
