How it plays
Each stage is a single overhead room containing emeralds, enemies, hazards, blocks, and a treasure chest. Lolo must collect every emerald to open the chest, then reach it to clear the room.
Lolo can move around the room, push certain blocks, and use his magic shot to transform eligible enemies into temporary eggs. Eggs can be pushed across water or used as platforms, but they disappear after a limited time. Later rooms combine these mechanics with Medusas, Snakes, Don Medusas, Rockys, and other hazards, requiring a precise order of actions.
Plan your run
Study the entire room before moving. A careless push or premature shot can make a solution impossible, so identify the route, enemy timing, and required egg positions first.
Prioritize emeralds that affect enemy behavior or access to narrow passages. Use eggs sparingly, keep track of their temporary duration, and avoid collecting a final emerald until the route to the chest is secure.

Adventures of Lolo is a puzzle-action game developed by HAL Laboratory for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Lolo enters a series of increasingly dangerous rooms to rescue Lala from King Egger, solving compact logic challenges while avoiding enemies and traps. The game is played from a fixed overhead perspective, with movement, positioning, and careful use of limited abilities determining success. Its design adapts ideas from HAL Laboratory's Eggerland games into a format suited to the NES. The emphasis is on deliberate problem solving rather than reflexes, although enemies and hazards can punish mistakes. The game was well received for its clear rules, inventive room layouts, and steadily increasing difficulty, and it helped establish Lolo as one of HAL's best-known puzzle characters.
