Aerial Assault uses a side-view perspective with automatic horizontal scrolling. The objective is to survive each stage, destroy enemy formations and installations, and defeat the stage boss.

The aircraft can move around the play area while firing at airborne and ground targets. Power-ups improve offensive capability, but collisions and enemy fire quickly reduce the player's margin for error. Progression comes from clearing successive stages rather than from character development or a persistent upgrade system.

Stay near the center of the playfield so there is room to react in either direction. Prioritize enemies that approach from behind or fire persistent projectiles, then clear ground targets when the screen is less crowded.

Collect weapon power-ups when the route is safe, but avoid risky detours for a single item. Learn boss attack patterns and keep moving instead of hovering in one position.
