How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective across linear stages containing platforms, hazards, enemies, hidden rooms, and collectible money bags. Alex can walk, jump, punch blocks or enemies, and use purchased items or vehicles.
Progression comes from clearing stages and defeating bosses. Shops and item pickups provide temporary advantages, while some routes require careful use of equipment. Bosses are settled through rock-paper-scissors choices, with incorrect decisions costing a life.
Plan your run
Learn the layout of each stage before spending money at shops. Save useful items for sections with difficult hazards rather than using them immediately.
For boss encounters, observe the available rock-paper-scissors choices and remember that a wrong choice can cost a life. Explore suspicious blocks and alternate routes, but avoid unnecessary risks when carrying valuable items.

Editorial context
A varied Master System platformer with memorable boss battles and a distinctive sense of adventure.
Its creative mechanics are appealing, though the controls and instant hazards require patience.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World is a side-scrolling platform game developed and published by Sega for the Sega Master System. Players control Alex Kidd, a martial-arts-trained prince who travels across the kingdom of Radaxian to rescue his father and defeat Janken the Great. The adventure combines traditional platforming with punch-based combat, vehicle sections, collectible items, shops, and rock-paper-scissors boss battles. Its varied stages and distinctive presentation made it one of the Master System's signature games. It was well received for its colorful world and variety, although its demanding controls and trial-and-error encounters can feel unforgiving today.
