Battleship is played from a top-down grid-based perspective. Each player places a fleet in hidden positions, then selects grid coordinates on the opponent’s board to launch attacks.

A hit reveals part of a ship and a miss records an unsuccessful location. Players continue alternating turns until one fleet is completely destroyed. The game supports solo play against computer opponents and two-player matches, with progression determined by successful deduction rather than character development or unlockable abilities.

Spread ships across the grid instead of placing them in predictable patterns. Avoid clustering vessels together, because a successful hit can then expose several likely targets.

After a hit, search nearby squares systematically rather than guessing randomly. Track every miss and use the board’s remaining legal spaces to identify the most probable locations for longer ships.
