How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective. The objective is to move through each stage, defeat waves of enemies, avoid hazards, and overcome a boss at the end of a stage.
Players walk, jump, attack, and use character-specific fighting techniques. Progression is stage-based rather than experience-based; success comes from reaching the next area and preserving limited health through careful movement and combat.
Plan your run
Learn enemy attack timing before committing to a combo, especially when several opponents approach from opposite sides. Use jumps to cross hazardous sections rather than trying to fight through every threat.
Conserve health by keeping enemies grouped where possible, then attack from a safe distance or retreat after a short exchange. Against bosses, observe their repeating movement patterns and strike during recovery windows.

Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team is a side-scrolling beat 'em up developed by Rare and published by Tradewest for the Game Boy in 1993. It combines Rare's Battletoads characters with Billy and Jimmy Lee from Double Dragon in a crossover fight against a shared enemy force. The Game Boy version condenses the larger console adventure into a portable action game, with compact stages, direct combat, and platforming hazards. Players choose from the available heroes and advance through a sequence of stages filled with ordinary attackers and bosses. Reception recognized its ambitious crossover and energetic combat, although the handheld conversion is more limited than the console editions.
