How it plays
How does Blades of Steel play?
The game uses a top-down, scrolling view of the rink. The objective is to score more goals than the opposing team before time expires, while defending the net and contesting possession around the ice.
Players control the skater nearest the puck and can pass, shoot, check, and change direction. Matches include face-offs and can lead to fights after certain collisions. Team selection, match length, and difficulty determine the overall challenge, but there is no extensive season or roster-management mode.
Plan your run
What is the best way to play Blades of Steel?
Keep moving the puck instead of carrying it through the entire opposing team. Short passes create better shooting angles and reduce the chance of being checked.
On defense, stay between the puck carrier and the goal, then challenge near the boards. Save special shooting attempts for clear lanes, and learn the timing of face-offs and fights through repeated matches.
Before you begin
What should you know before playing?
- 1
Use passing to pull defenders away from the goal.
- 2
Approach loose pucks from an angle rather than directly behind them.
- 3
Defend the center of the rink before chasing the puck toward the boards.
