How it plays
Matches take place in three-dimensional arenas viewed from a side-oriented fighting perspective. The objective is to deplete the opponent's health before time expires, with rounds deciding the match.
Players move, guard, strike, throw, and activate Beast mode when the Beast gauge permits. Beast mode improves the fighter's offensive potential and provides a different set of attacks, but it can be managed or lost during combat. Single-player play advances through a sequence of opponents, while versus mode supports direct matches.
Plan your run
Use normal attacks to learn the opponent's timing before spending the Beast gauge. Guarding and sidestepping are especially useful against aggressive enemies, while throws can punish opponents who block too often.
Transform when it creates a clear advantage rather than activating immediately. In Beast mode, look for short attack strings and knockdowns, then return to defense when the gauge or positioning becomes unfavorable.

Bloody Roar is a 3D arcade fighting game developed by Eighting and published by Hudson Soft for PlayStation. Fighters battle in enclosed arenas, using punches, kicks, defensive movement, and a signature Beast transformation that changes their attacks and abilities. The roster mixes martial artists, animal-themed fighters, and supernatural characters, each with distinct move sets. The game includes an arcade-style single-player progression and versus play. It was well received for its fast combat, accessible controls, and memorable transformation mechanic, although its presentation and depth were generally considered more modest than those of larger contemporary fighting franchises.
