How it plays

How does Bloody Roar play?

The game uses a side-on 3D arena perspective. Players select a fighter, defeat opponents in one-on-one rounds, and use punches, kicks, throws, guarding, and character-specific special attacks.

Each fighter has a Beast button that activates a transformation when the Beast gauge permits it. Beast form improves offensive power and survivability, while taking damage and using certain attacks affects the gauge. Arcade play advances through a fixed series of opponents; Versus and Practice modes support local play and training.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Bloody Roar?

Learn the normal attack chains for one character before relying on Beast form. Use short attacks to interrupt opponents, then confirm into a knockdown or throw rather than repeatedly attacking.

Keep the opponent near the edge of the arena, but avoid careless sidesteps that give up your position. Activate Beast form when it can secure a round, escape pressure, or exploit a vulnerable opponent; transforming immediately at the start of every match is rarely optimal.
