How it plays
Each stage is viewed from above and consists of a maze of indestructible walls, destructible blocks, enemies, and a concealed exit. Bomberman places bombs and must move behind safe walls before their cross-shaped blasts detonate.
Destroying blocks can reveal power-ups, including increased blast range, additional bombs, and the ability to walk through blocks or detonate bombs remotely. Clearing a stage and entering its exit advances the game, while losing all lives ends the run.
Plan your run
Plan each bomb's escape route before placing it. Use walls to block blast lines, and avoid destroying too many blocks at once if doing so removes your safe paths.
Prioritize the flame-range and extra-bomb power-ups, but collect them only when the surrounding area is safe. In later rooms, watch enemy movement before committing to a narrow corridor and keep a clear route to the exit.

Bomberman is an action maze game developed by Hudson Soft for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The player controls Bomberman, who must clear single-screen stages by placing bombs, destroying soft blocks, defeating enemies, and finding the exit. Its play style combines deliberate positioning with quick movement, since explosions travel in straight lines and can harm the player. The game is primarily a solo challenge built around progressively more dangerous rooms rather than competitive multiplayer. Although simple by later series standards, its clear rules and tense risk-and-reward design helped establish Bomberman as a recognizable home-console franchise.
