Bomberman
The main hero, who travels across four worlds using bombs and collected power-ups to defeat evil forces.
How it plays
The game is viewed from a top-down perspective on grid-based arenas. In adventure play, Bomberman must clear paths, destroy enemies, find the exit, and defeat bosses across a sequence of themed areas. Bomb explosions travel in the four cardinal directions until they meet a wall or destructible block.
Power-ups can improve bomb range, bomb capacity, movement, or other abilities. Competitive play places players in enclosed arenas where the last surviving bomber wins. Careful positioning, timing, and using blast chains are more important than simply placing bombs quickly.
Plan your run
Use nearby blocks as temporary cover, but always identify an escape route before placing a bomb. Expand blast range gradually; a longer explosion is useful for clearing arenas but makes mistakes more dangerous.
In multiplayer, avoid standing on predictable routes and use chain reactions to control corridors. Save useful power-ups when collecting them would force you into an unsafe position, and learn each boss’s attack timing before committing to a counterattack.

Bomberman World is an action-maze game developed and published by Hudson Soft for the original PlayStation. It uses the classic Bomberman premise: players place timed bombs, clear destructible blocks, defeat enemies, and collect power-ups while avoiding expanding explosions. The game includes a single-player adventure and competitive multiplayer, making it suitable both for focused stage progression and local party play. Its presentation expands the traditional formula with a world-themed adventure structure and large boss encounters. Reception generally recognized its faithful Bomberman mechanics and enjoyable multiplayer, while opinions on the slower pace and familiar design were more mixed. It remains a notable late-1990s console entry in the series.
