How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective. Bucky explores scrolling stages, defeats Toad enemies, avoids hazards, collects items, and reaches a boss at the end of each world.
Bucky can rescue four crew members, after which the player may switch between available characters. Each character has a different weapon or movement specialty, making some routes and encounters easier with a particular teammate.
Progression follows a fixed sequence of worlds and stages. Players gain access to more characters as they rescue them, then use the crew's abilities to handle increasingly difficult platforming sections and bosses.
Plan your run
Learn the attack pattern and safe distance for each boss before committing to damage. Keep moving through ordinary stages rather than allowing enemies to surround the character.
Rescue teammates as soon as the stage order permits. Switch characters when a weapon, jump, or movement characteristic makes a section safer, and preserve health before entering boss rooms.
Use platforms and walls to control enemy positioning. On later stages, deliberate movement is usually safer than rushing, especially around projectiles and disappearing platforms.

Bucky O'Hare is a side-scrolling action platformer developed and published by Konami for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992. It is based on the science-fiction comic and animated franchise about a green rabbit leading the crew of the space vessel Righteous Indignation. The player travels through hostile worlds occupied by the Toad Empire, using ranged attacks, jumping, and character-specific abilities to rescue captured teammates. The game is structured around distinct stages with platforming obstacles, enemy encounters, and large boss battles. Its responsive controls, varied playable characters, and demanding difficulty earned it a strong reputation among NES action games, although its limited continues and punishing later stages can be challenging for inexperienced players.
