How it plays

How does Mortal Kombat Trilogy play?

Matches are viewed from the side, with two fighters facing each other in a single arena. Players use punches, kicks, throws, special moves, defensive movement, and character-specific finishing techniques to deplete the opponent’s life bar.

The main single-player experience consists of successive fights against computer-controlled opponents, while versus modes support direct competition. Winning matches advances the selected fighter through the ladder; difficulty and opponent behavior depend on the chosen settings and version.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Mortal Kombat Trilogy?

Learn the normal attacks and special-move ranges of one fighter before attempting advanced combinations. Keep enough distance to punish unsafe attacks, and use blocking when the opponent begins a repeated close-range sequence.

Against the computer, observe its reaction patterns rather than attacking continuously. Save powerful special moves and finishing inputs for situations where their range and timing are reliable.
