Scorpion
A revenant ninja who uses a kunai spear and fire-based techniques.
How it plays
Matches are viewed from the side, with two fighters facing each other in a single arena. Players use punches, kicks, throws, special moves, defensive movement, and character-specific finishing techniques to deplete the opponent’s life bar.
The main single-player experience consists of successive fights against computer-controlled opponents, while versus modes support direct competition. Winning matches advances the selected fighter through the ladder; difficulty and opponent behavior depend on the chosen settings and version.
Plan your run
Learn the normal attacks and special-move ranges of one fighter before attempting advanced combinations. Keep enough distance to punish unsafe attacks, and use blocking when the opponent begins a repeated close-range sequence.
Against the computer, observe its reaction patterns rather than attacking continuously. Save powerful special moves and finishing inputs for situations where their range and timing are reliable.
Meet the cast
A revenant ninja who uses a kunai spear and fire-based techniques.
A cryomancer ninja who attacks with ice projectiles and freezing abilities.
A Shaolin champion whose attacks include flying kicks and fire-based techniques.
The powerful ruler of Outworld and a recurring boss opponent.
Before you begin
Practice special-move inputs in a low-pressure match before entering the single-player ladder.
Blocking and spacing are more dependable than repeated jumping attacks.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy is a 2D arcade-style fighting game and expanded compilation in Midway Games’ Mortal Kombat series. It brings together characters, arenas, and combat content from Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, with some material adjusted for the compilation format. Players select from a large roster of martial artists, ninjas, cyborgs, monsters, and bosses, then fight through one-on-one matches using special moves and finishing techniques. The game was historically notable for its unusually broad roster and fast, aggressive combat, although its reception varied by version because of balance, presentation, and technical differences between ports.
