How it plays
Scrooge travels through several side-scrolling stages, searching for treasures while avoiding enemies, traps, and environmental hazards. His cane can strike foes, bounce on certain objects, and support a pogo jump when used downward in midair.
Players collect treasures and money, defeat stage bosses, and eventually complete the final confrontation. The Game Boy version is designed for one player and does not include a separate multiplayer mode. Exploration and route selection are simpler than in the NES game, but careful movement and cane use remain central to progression.
Plan your run
Use the cane from a safe distance whenever possible, especially against enemies that occupy narrow platforms. The pogo jump is useful for crossing hazards and bouncing on suitable objects, but it should not replace careful examination of pits and moving traps.
Explore each stage methodically to find treasure and useful routes. Before a boss encounter, learn its movement pattern and prioritize survival over quick attacks; the limited screen area makes positioning particularly important.

Before you begin
Practice switching between normal cane swings and the pogo jump; each is useful in different spaces.
Look for safe platforms before committing to a long jump.
Treat boss fights as pattern-learning encounters rather than races.
DuckTales is a 1990 Game Boy platform game developed and published by Capcom, based on Disney’s animated television series. It places Scrooge McDuck on a globe-spanning treasure hunt through dangerous ruins, castles, mines, and other exotic locations. The game uses side-scrolling exploration, precise jumping, and Scrooge’s distinctive cane as its main play tools. It is a compact adaptation of Capcom’s DuckTales design for Nintendo’s handheld, with shorter stages and simplified presentation. Contemporary players generally valued its responsive controls and faithful use of the cartoon license, although the monochrome screen and reduced scale make it less elaborate than the NES version.
