How it plays
Scrooge explores five selectable stages: the Amazon, Transylvania, the African Mines, the Himalayas, and the Moon. Each stage is a side-scrolling maze with branching routes, treasures, enemies, hazards, and a boss encounter.
The player uses Scrooge's cane to swing at targets or pogo across enemies and obstacles. Money and large treasures increase the final fortune, while hidden areas reward careful exploration. Completing the five stages leads to the ending sequence, with the final confrontation and ending outcome depending on the collected treasure.
Plan your run
Learn to use the pogo cane for both offense and movement; bouncing is often safer than approaching enemies directly.
Explore each stage before defeating its boss. Look for side paths, breakable objects, and large treasures, but avoid unnecessary damage because health is limited. In difficult sections, use short cane swings and controlled pogo jumps rather than holding movement continuously.

Editorial context
A highly polished licensed NES platformer with excellent controls and inventive stage layouts.
The pogo cane makes movement feel different from most platform games, although some hazards demand careful timing.
Disney's DuckTales is a 1989 NES platform-adventure game developed and published by Capcom, based on Disney's animated television series. Players control Scrooge McDuck as he travels around the world seeking five legendary treasures and building his fortune. The game combines precise side-scrolling platforming with exploration, enemy attacks, hidden rooms, and collectible treasure. Scrooge's pogo cane gives the adventure a distinctive movement system, allowing him to bounce on enemies and hazardous objects. The NES release was widely praised for its responsive controls, memorable level design, colorful presentation, and energetic music, and it is often regarded as one of Capcom's strongest licensed games.
