How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective. Jim must travel from the beginning of each stage to its exit while defeating enemies, avoiding hazards, and collecting useful items. His main actions are running, jumping, shooting his blaster, and using his head as a whip.
Stages are arranged as linear platforming challenges with boss encounters and changing environments. Progress comes from completing levels rather than building a persistent character or equipment system. The Game Boy version focuses on single-player action and does not include a separate multiplayer mode.
Plan your run
Use short, deliberate jumps in unfamiliar areas, especially where enemies or hazards are positioned near ledges. Fire before approaching narrow platforms so that enemies do not force Jim into a fall.
Conserve safe positioning during boss encounters. Learn each boss’s attack timing, strike when an opening appears, and prioritize avoiding damage over rushing forward.

Treat the blaster as a spacing tool as well as an attack, since removing distant enemies makes jumps safer.
Earthworm Jim: Menace 2 the Galaxy is a side-scrolling platform game developed by David A. Palmer Productions and published by Crave Entertainment for the Game Boy. It adapts the surreal action-comedy style of the Earthworm Jim series to Nintendo’s monochrome handheld, placing Jim in a succession of compact stages filled with enemies, hazards, and collectibles. Players control Jim as he runs, jumps, shoots, and uses his worm body and suit in exaggerated ways. The game emphasizes straightforward arcade action rather than exploration-heavy design. Contemporary reception was mixed: reviewers generally appreciated the character, humor, and attempt to preserve the console games’ personality, but criticized the limited Game Boy hardware, uneven level design, and occasional control or difficulty issues.
