How it plays

How does Excitebike play?

The race is viewed from the side as the rider travels from left to right toward the finish line. Players accelerate, change lanes, steer in the air, and tilt the motorcycle to land safely after jumps.

Courses contain ramps, dirt mounds, and computer-controlled opponents. Turbo increases speed but raises the bike’s temperature; overheating temporarily stops the rider. Finishing within the target time earns a strong result, while the design mode allows custom tracks to be built and tested.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Excitebike?

Use turbo on clear, straight sections rather than continuously. Watch the temperature indicator and release the turbo before overheating.

Adjust the bike’s angle during jumps so both wheels land smoothly. Move between lanes to avoid rival riders and use the inside line when it does not lead into an obstacle.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Learn the landing angle for each large ramp before using turbo.

  2. 2

Avoid collisions with rival riders because they cost valuable time.

  3. 3

In Design mode, test a track repeatedly to identify unsafe jump spacing.
