How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective. Fred travels from left to right through individual stages, defeats or avoids enemies, collects items, and reaches the end-of-level goal. Platforming requires jumps over gaps, hazards, and moving objects.
Fred can use his club as a short-range attack and can move, jump, and climb through the stage layout where supported. The adventure is organized into themed levels with checkpoints or lives governing continued progress. The objective is to complete the stages and ultimately rescue Dino and Hoppy.
Plan your run
Take time to learn enemy movement before jumping into unfamiliar areas. Fred’s club has limited reach, so attack early rather than waiting until an enemy is directly beside him.
Preserve lives by avoiding unnecessary fights and checking the edges of platforms before committing to a jump. Use safe ground to position Fred, then cross moving hazards with deliberate jumps instead of rushing.

The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy is a side-scrolling platform game developed and published by Taito for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is based on the animated television series and follows Fred Flintstone as he sets out to rescue his pet dinosaur Dino and the time-traveling kangaroo Hoppy. Players guide Fred through colorful prehistoric stages filled with enemies, platforms, hazards, and collectible items. Fred attacks with his club and jumps across the environment in a conventional action-platforming structure. Contemporary reception generally regarded the game as a competent licensed NES platformer, with recognizable characters and presentation, although its difficulty and fairly familiar design limited its impact compared with the system’s strongest platform games.
