X1-Alpha
The player-controlled police combat machine, capable of switching between a fast hover pursuit form and a heavier mech form.
How it plays
The game uses a third-person perspective behind the player-controlled police machine. Missions take place in urban environments where the main objectives include destroying hostile vehicles, eliminating criminal forces, protecting targets, and reaching designated areas.
The machine can operate in different forms, allowing the player to move through streets and engage enemies with ranged weapons. Progression comes from completing missions and improving combat effectiveness through weapon and equipment upgrades. Crime War provides a separate mode centered on battling waves or forces across strategic territories.
Plan your run
Prioritize enemies that can disable or surround the machine, then keep moving rather than trading fire in the open. Use the environment for cover and watch the radar for threats approaching from outside the camera view.
Save powerful weapons for armored targets and objective defenses. In Crime War, controlling territory and choosing upgrade priorities is more important than pursuing every enemy immediately.

Future Cop: L.A.P.D. is a 1998 action game developed by EA Redwood Shores and published by Electronic Arts for the original PlayStation. It combines third-person shooting with vehicular combat, placing the player in control of a heavily armed police machine assigned to contain futuristic crime and civil unrest in Los Angeles. The game offers a story-driven campaign and the competitive Crime War mode. Its transforming police vehicle gives missions a distinct mix of ground movement, weapon management, and tactical positioning. Reception was generally favorable for its fast action, varied arsenal, and unusual premise, although some criticism focused on repetitive combat and camera limitations.
